When Dr Dennis Khoo began designing and building UOB's TMRW Digital Bank, there was no structured and holistic process to follow. The available methods at that time tended to be overly simplistic, anecdotally based, and only able to accommodate the most trivial of transformations. Recognizing the unique challenges of digital transformation in large, incumbent organizations, Dr Khoo developed the allDigitalFuture Playbook (taP) as a breakthrough methodology to address these complexities.
The taP methodology is built on the understanding that both business and technology transformations are inherently complex systems. Just as an automobile — composed of thousands of parts — can be better understood by breaking it down into its main components, taP dissects the intricate process of transformation into four key dimensions: the customer, business, capabilities, and people and leadership dimensions. Each of these dimensions is associated with crucial outputs (like the customer value proposition and the business model) and is supported by specific inputs that ensure every aspect of the transformation is covered.
Unlike other methodologies, taP offers a number of unique benefits:
In essence, the taP methodology moves beyond simplistic, one-size-fits-all solutions. It offers a refined, methodical process designed for complex business environments — ensuring that companies can navigate the maze of digital transformation with a well-articulated strategy that covers all critical dimensions. This is why organizations looking to embark on significant digital changes should consider taP: it not only clarifies the journey from idea to innovation but also empowers them to execute with confidence and precision.
